NUKU’ALOFA-August 24: 2.32pm (R2R Media): The winners of the Tonga Ridge To Reef (R2R)/Environment Photo Competition to mark the 2017 Environment Week have been selected.
The judging panel sat yesterday afternoon and selected the three winners of the 2017 R2R/Environment Photo Competition that was held in June/July as part of the Environment Week celebrations here in Nuku’alofa.
The theme was ‘Connecting to the Environment’.
There was a call for interested participants to send in their photos through our Facebook Page and use the theme as their guideline.
Five participants had their entries submitted for final selection.
The winning entry came from Sinivia Finauvaia Manu, who entered a total of 18 photos for the competition.
Second place went to Ms Baba Amanaki while the third prize will go to Gold Em Vy.
Entries had to be submitted through the R2R Facebook Page.
The judges were Ms Ebonie Fifita (On the Spot), Mr Steev Maka (Choreographer/Photographer), Penikoni Aleaamotua (Department of Environment) and Iliesa Tora (R2R).
The winners will receive goods as prizes as per following:
1. $500 worth
2. $300 worth
3. $200 worth
R2R Project Manager Ta’hirih Hokafonu said the project and the department was grateful to all those who participated.
“We are ever so grateful to their participation. They are all winners and we congratulate all of them, especially those who came out winners after the judging,” she said.
The winning photos and selected entries will also be used in the 2018 R2R/Environment Calendar that is going to be published later this year.
