Vaini community get tourism training

NUKU’ALOFA-February 21: 10.15am (R2R Media): Members of the Vaini community here on Tongatapu attended a one-night training programme on tourism services and operation, as part of the Vaini Eco-Tourism project launched late last year at the Vai ko Felefonu site.

The training programme was facilitated by the Ministry of Tourism and the Tonga Ridge To Reef (R2R) project.

Members of the Vaini community can now look forward to using the eco-tourism site as a venue to sell their handicraft and other goods, especially when cruise liners are next in Tonga.

The eco-tourism site is part of the R2R project mandate for Tonga, as part of the development and management of the Fanga’uta Lagoon Catchment Area, helping communities with sustainable economic activities that would also supplement the work done on managing the lagoon.

R2R Technical Officer Petelo Otoota Tooa helped in facilitating the training.
