The two schools, Tonga High School and Queen Salote College, were visited by the team from R2R, Ministry of Education and the Forestry Department charged with distributing the plant seedlings.

The variety of seedlings also included breadfruits, oranges and lime.

R2R Technical Officer Petelo Otoota Tooa said the project wants to ensure that schools around the Fanga’uta Lagoon Catchment area are able to get seedlings so that they can replant and help the school environments improve.

“That way we help the environment and keep Tonga green as well,” he added.

More schools are expected to receive plant seedlings over the next few days.
