The monitoring results will help the project’s Technical Committee and Steering Committee in their deliberations on the status of the lagoon’s marine life.

Monitoring started from the Popua end of the lagoon to Nukuleka village down in the Eastern end of Tongatapu.

The team used the project’s new vessel – the Marine Monitoring Boat – which was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Siaosi Sovaleni last month.

Monitoring activities for Fanga’uta continues as the R2R Project works on finalising data and information to help decision makers on their decisions regarding the continuing management of the lagoon and its catchment area.
