
Nuku’alofa – May 18, 2020: 8.15am (Enviro News): Two teams are reaching out to communities on Ha’apai and Vava’u this week with the draft Tonga Ocean Plan.
The teams are part of the Tonga Ocean 7 working group, under the Marine Spatial Plan project, overseen by the Department of Environment, under the Ministry of MEIDECC.

Their task this week will be to discuss the draft Ocean Plan and explain that to members of the community.
The ocean plan will become the management legislation to guide the use and sustainable management of Tonga’s ocean and its activities.
On Friday the two teams met with respective government officials and govenors on the two islands, before the consultation visit starts today.

The two teams are made up of staff from the different departments and ministries working together under the Tonga Ocean 7 working group.
This includes Environment, Fisheries, Lands and Survey, Tourism, Ports Authority and Marine.
